I loved this story.

Inseparable is the first book I’ve read by Sloan Johnson. I have several of her books on my TBRL (to be read list) but I just haven’t made time to read any of them before now. I’m a sucker for a good NA (New Adult) romance and I really love this particular sub-genre of MM romance.

While I’m usually not terribly fond of books written in first-person I don’t seem to mind it at all in NA stories. Inseparable is told in alternating first person POV, with Gabe and Trevor taking turns telling the story.

When I first read the blurb for this story, I knew that I wanted to read the book and I’m so glad that it lived up to the blurb. Too often I’ve thought a book’s blurb to be fantastic with the book ending up being a big disappointment. Since the book’s blurb is great I won’t restate it here.

Gabe isn’t finding college life to be everything he thought it would be and he’s afraid to let Trevor know. Like most young people (and a lot of older ones!) these two guys have trouble communicating with each other. Once they finally start being honest with each other their problems begin to even out.

Inseparable had my emotions all over the place. Trevor is so afraid to come out to his parents and he’s afraid they will never accept the relationship he has with Gabe that they’ve kept hidden. There’s a surprise in the story that I didn’t see coming but it helped explain why Gabe and Trevor were so reluctant to tell their parents about their feelings for each other.

Inseparable kept my attention right from the beginning and I didn’t want to put it down once I started reading it. I read it while I was on vacation and my hubby got a bit perturbed when I didn’t want to stop reading and do vacation-y things with him. ?

I was very pleased to learn that this is book one of a series and I can’t wait to read the next one.

Sloan Johnson is a big city girl trapped in a country girl’s life. While she longs for the hustle and bustle of New York City or Las Vegas, she hasn’t yet figured out how to sit on the deck with her morning coffee, watching the deer and wild turkeys in the fields while surrounded by concrete and glass.

When she was three, her parents received their first call from the principal asking them to pick her up from school. Apparently, if you aren’t enrolled, you can’t attend classes, even in Kindergarten. The next week, she was in preschool and started plotting her first story soon after.

Later in life, her parents needed to do something to help their socially awkward, uncoordinated child come out of her shell and figured there was no better place than a bar on Wednesday nights. It’s a good thing they did because this is where she found her love of reading and writing. Who needs socialization when you can sit alone in your bedroom with a good book?

Now, Sloan is a tattooed mom with a mohawk and two kids. She’s been kicked out of the PTA in two school districts and is no longer asked to help with fundraisers because she’s been known to lose herself with a good book and forget she has somewhere to be.
