A great series; I hope there will be more books.

Xtreme-Delusions recently posted about the re-release of RJ Scott’s Stanford Creek series but at that time I hadn’t had a chance to read/review them. Below is my quick review of each book. You can go here to see this site’s original post with all of the book blurbs, etc. Each story reads OK as a standalone but I recommend reading them in order for maximum enjoyment.
Notes & Roses – 4 stars
This was the first M/F story I’ve read by RJ Scot (it was previously published under her Rozenn Scott pen name which she has decided to retire). Like her M/M stories that I am very familiar with, this one contains her wonderful way with words that make me feel like I’m part of the story.
Former pop star, CJ (Cody) Taylor is starting over and leaving life in the spotlight. He retreats to a small town in Vermont and makes his debut in town in a way he never imagined and in the process, meets Megan Campbell.
This is a somewhat typical boy meets girl story but Ms. Scott’s writing that makes all the difference. There’s mystery and suspense along with some family drama. Cody and Megan get a HFN (happy for now) and the book introduces additional characters who feature in the other books in the series.
Love & Hope – 5 stars
Another M/F story, originally published under the Rozenn Scott pen name, this one focuses on Danny Hudson, former band-mate of CJ (Cody) Taylor, and Rachel Mercer cousin to Megan Campbell.
Danny has given up everything to secure his custody of his baby girl, Hope. He’s already nearly penniless and then he finds out that he’s been dropped from Hudson Hart. He has to find a way to make a life for himself and Hope.
Rachel seems to always date the wrong kind of guy and only she knows why. She has a horrible secret that she’s never shared with anyone except her therapist.
Neither Rachel or Danny is looking for a long-term relationship but their hearts are telling them something different if only Danny can get Rachel to listen.
I loved this story so much. I’m a sucker for a man who wants to love and protect his child from all the bad stuff in the world and there is no doubt that Danny will do anything to protect Hope. I’m also a sucker for a woman who has a secret she hasn’t even told her best friend, who also happens to be her cousin, co-owner of a business and house-mate.
Rachel fights her feelings for Danny just about every step of the way. When she finally decides to give in she tells him:
“You can come in for coffee, and I’m happy to have sex, but that’s it, you don’t stay, and we’re done, okay, because I don’t do overnight stays, or relationships.”
That just won’t work for Danny – he wants more – so he refuses her offer. Now I just had to trust that RJ would figure out a way for Rachel and Danny to get their HEA and, of course, she did.
Snow & Secrets – 5 stars
Here we go – back to the M/M stories I’ve come to know and love from RJ Scott. Snow & Secrets is a perfect title. Garrett Campbell is the out-gay brother of Megan from book 1, Notes and Roses. That he has a secret was pretty much hinted at in the first two books. I’m not sure how much I would have put things together, though, if I hadn’t read the books one right after the other.
Tyler Hart is a member of Hudson Hart and he also happens to be gay and out. That’s never been a problem until he was filmed in a public bathroom in a very compromising situation. Tyler needs to get away from L.A. and the scandal until things die down so he heads for Stanford Creek.
When Garrett and Tyler both end up in a cabin owned by Garrett’s brother sparks eventually begin to fly between the two and after a few days they decide to fool around as long as they’re sharing the cabin. This book is the hottest of the three – Garrett and Tyler together? WOW
Snow & Secrets also has the most suspense and intrigue of the three. Unfortunately, it would spoil things if I revealed too much about that intrigue. I can say that both Garrett and Tyler have things going on that make this a very interesting story. Garrett isn’t the mild-mannered pharmaceutical rep that he’s always told his family.
If you love RJ Scott’s books you won’t want to miss this one.
RJ Scott is the bestselling author of over one hundred romance books. She writes emotional stories of complicated characters, cowboys, millionaire, princes, and the partners who get mixed up in their lives. RJ is known for writing books that always end with a happy ever after. She lives just outside London and spends every waking minute she isn’t with family either reading or writing.
The last time she had a week’s break from writing she didn’t like it one little bit, and she has yet to meet a bottle of wine she couldn’t defeat.
