Packing quite the emotional punch.
Inseparable By Auryn Hadley
Genre: Science Fiction / Fantasy
Released: October 7, 2016
Publisher: Spotted Horse Productions
Series: Rise of the Iliri, Book 4
The meeting of allied nations should have been something to celebrate. Instead, Sal dreads what will happen when Dominik Jens, the king of an allied nation, arrives. If her court martial isn’t over, he’ll hear every last detail about her mission. From her own lips, she’ll have to tell him that she was the assassin who made him the King of Anglia.
Parliament’s only option is to disband the Black Blades. Never mind that the elite military unit saved their country over and over. When the iliri’s immoral lifestyle is brought to light, one Representative thinks it’s proof that the beasts need humans to control them. The rest can only agree. Prejudice has always been stronger than logic.
The vote is cast. Parliament agrees. The Black Blades are no more.
But these humans think the war is about them. Distracted by the promise of rare metals and political favor, they’ve forgotten that the real threat is making its way across the continent. Humans want to tame the iliri. The iliri want to survive. The world is tearing them apart.

Packing quite the emotional punch.
I didn’t even let my ereader cool down after finishing Defiance before I opened Inseparable. Needless to say, I went without sleep to finish it. I suppose I should mention up front that while each of the books in the series stand-alone, you really should read them in order. This latest in the Rise of the Iliri series really packs it in when it comes to the elements of romance. Prepare to have your emotions tweaked. I’ll let you read the synopsis for a basic understanding of the plot.
What’s not talked about are the relationships in the story. Inseparable is such an apropos name for the book. Not only is it about how inseparable the Black Blades are when they are disbanded by the CFC but also just how inseparable the bond of cessivi or soul mates is. Black Blade’s Valcor Zepyr is the only human on the team. Yet he is as much an Illirian as any of the rest of them, DNA aside. Sal’s “big brother” and best friend though isn’t feeling so brotherly these days. The only one he’s kidding though is himself. The growth of Sal and Zep’s relationship plays an integral part in the overall storyline. If you thought Bleac and Jase were all that get ready for Zep.
What makes this triad relationship work so well is the fact that it’s natural for the Illirian. While they may catch all kinds of hell for their actions from the CFC, they are more than welcome by the Gauori and the Anglians.
Woven throughout the story is action, adventure, suspense, and danger. In Ms. Hadley’s closing words to the reader, she states “Inseparable was the book that wrote itself.” Reading it I can definitely believe it. It is by far the most compelling and emotionally stirring to date. Each book in the series seems to outdo the last. I cannot wait to read Tenacity, the next book in the series.

At a young age, she was branded a “geek” and wears the title proudly. Even now, Auryn wavers between being a hard-core gamer, intrigued by Rennaissance faires, and stuck with her nose in a good book. She’s always believed that we’re never too old to enjoy the simple things in life.
