Disgraced former FBI agent Tim Burkhart desperately wants to reclaim his life and find happiness. Relocating his fledgling private security company to Miami—where his ex-wife moved their two daughters—hopefully is a start. When he’s hired to provide protection for an antiques dealer on his way to Scotland to sell a priceless ancient dirk, Tim believes the break he’s been waiting for has finally arrived. Maybe now he can make enough money to hire a lawyer and get shared parenting of his little girls.
Elliot James runs the antique shop he inherited after his grandfather’s death. Lonely and swimming in debt, he longs for a way to turn his life around but keeps making one mistake after another. Then he finds the ancient dirk tucked away among junk as he’s cleaning out his grandfather’s home. Placing it up for sale, he is thrilled when an out of country buyer purchases the priceless antique. The buyer wants the dirk immediately and sends Tim to ensure Elliot safely delivers it on time.
The moment Tim and Elliot meet, however, everything falls apart. Between break-ins, shoot-outs, stalkers, totaled cars, and the cops, it seems Tim and Elliot will never get to Scotland by the deadline. Despite all the obstacles, an unexpected attraction pulls them together, offering each man a glimmer of hope. But if they don’t deliver the dirk on time, they won’t get paid and neither of them will be able to pick up the pieces of their lives.
Will Destiny Ink help them complete this job and find a happily ever after, or is all of this really too good to be true?
Reviewer note: according to Goodreads this book was previously published. I do not know if the content has changed.

Hot bodyguard story!
Too Good To Be True and a sexy insta-love story with a bit of bodyguard action thrown in. Tim has had a difficult time with his coming out and he’s trying to get his life back on track. Elliot is in financial trouble and selling an ancient object will help him avoid bankruptcy. Tim is hired to protect Elliot until the sale is completed over in Scotland.
I loved how compassionate and Tim is. When he learns of Elliot’s troubles, he wants to do everything he can to help. Elliot made a bad mistake with his previous boyfriend so he’s cautious about entering into something with Tim even though their connection is instant and really sizzles.
Tim and Elliot get up to some really hot and sexy stuff; they are a good match for each other. They get a surprise from Destiny Ink after they and the artifact are on the way to Scotland. I really enjoyed the epilogue that was set one year later. I love learning how the MCs are doing later on down the road.
Mini rant from this reviewer that did not affect my rating: the blurb on Amazon makes no mention that this story was published previously. This is a pet peeve of mine and I think authors do their readers a disservice when they don’t disclose this information.

“Roz is gonna kill me!”
Nico Thanos looked up from his tea as a wild-eyed blue-haired woman burst into his office. Since he was in the human realm, only one of the three sister Fates could disturb him here. Unfortunately she caused the most trouble.
“You are immortal, sweets. Now what happened, Phoebe, tell me from the beginning.”
She threw herself dramatically onto his office couch, melting with defeat. “I lost it. I frikking lost it.”
“What did you lose?” Calmness always got Phoebe out of her own head.
“The dirk.”
“The what?”
“An ancient knife about,” she held her hands out in front of her to illustrate about a foot, “yay long. Big fat ruby, carvings. Magic. It belongs to the McCallum clan, and if it isn’t inside the old castle at Destiny Dalmahoy Resort when Ian and Bryn tie the knot, then Black Donald’s curse won’t be broken. They’ll get married but it will still end tragically. But I can’t find it!”
“Zeus’s beard! Black Donald?”
“Uh-huh.”
“Why was a dirk cursed by that asshole removed from the castle in the first place?”
Nico had been running the human side of Destiny Resorts for decades. Being half-fae half-human like Phoebe enabled him to effortlessly go back and forth between realms. With his business acumen, the sister Fates hired him to manage all their luxury resorts so they could concentrate on matching souls via their magical dating service Destiny Ink. If his staff had discovered an artifact such as this during remodeling of the Scottish property, Nico would have known.
Phoebe chewed her lower lip and looked everywhere but at him. “Um, I kinda borrowed it like a couple decades ago…”
“Oh, Phoebe, you didn’t .”
“I did.”
“No.”
“I did.”
“But why?”
“There was this knife throwing competition at the Highland Games that summer—”
“Dear Zeus help me,” Nico muttered. “And you didn’t know it was magical?”
“Um, sorta?” she admitted. More of the eye contact evading and lip gnawing. “I thought it would give me a leg up in the competition. But then afterward, there was a beer tent…”
“Of course there was.” He tried not to get too annoyed at the impulsive woman. She was easily distracted by anything shiny or fun.

Deanna Wadsworth might be a bestselling erotica author, but she leads a pretty vanilla life in Ohio with her wonderful husband and a couple adorable cocker spaniels. She has been spinning tales and penning stories since childhood, and her first erotic novella was published in 2010. She has served multiple board positions for different RWA chapters, including President of the Rainbow Romance Writers in 2017. When she isn’t writing books or brainstorming with friends, you can find her making people gorgeous in a beauty salon. An avid reader, she also loves gardening, cooking, music, and dancing. Often she can be seen hanging out on the sandbar in the muddy Maumee River or chilling with her hubby and a cocktail in their basement bar. In between all that fun, Deanna cherishes the quiet times when she can let her wildly active imagination have the full run of her mind. Her fascination with people and the interworkings of their relationships have always inspired her to write romance with spice and love without boundaries.
