Love and betrayal is in the lyrics...
Country music star January Winters knew the rise to fame would be hard. She never expected her arrival to be met with danger. But when a stalker’s attempts go from creepy to deadly, even the fearlessly independent Jan gives into her producer’s demands that they hire a bodyguard. But that was before she realized who would be guarding her body…
A knee injury might have ruined his football career, but it didn’t stop Dino Machiavelli from becoming the best bodyguard in Vegas. He can literally pick and choose his assignments—and he never picks guarding diva celebrities. At least not until his boss makes one assignment impossible for him to refuse and he finds himself too close for comfort with the one girl that ripped out his heart fifteen years ago.
When the stalker’s actions escalate, Dino and Jan fight their sizzling attraction as they come to the shocking realization that the stalker may be closer to Jan the either of them ever imagined. And it might be too late to show each other their love again with a maniac intent on murder.

Love and betrayal is in the lyrics…
A second chance at love is just what January Winters and Dino Machiavelli need in their lives. Thick as thieves and very much in love at seventeen, January broke off with Dino the day before graduation breaking his heart with no explanation. Now it’s fifteen years later and country star, January has a stalker.
High school football star, Dino is no longer the football hopeful that he once was. A knee injury in college took him out of the running. Thinking to turn his career to law enforcement, Dino changed his major only to find out his knee took him out that running as well. Today he works for his best friend’s family security business as the best bodyguard in Vegas. So, when the call comes in for a bodyguard for January, Dino is assigned. To say he’s a little reluctant to take the case would be putting it mildly, but a bit of brutal indiscretion on his part has put him in a place where he doesn’t have room to balk. Keeping his focus on just the case though is going to prove just a bit challenging for Dino because those old feelings are stirring up big time and it’s so easy to become distracted by the one woman Dino never stopped loving.
January was an insecure geeky teenager who absolutely loved Dino. That very insecurity though led to her breaking up with him when rumors began floating about that he was cheating on her. Typical of a teenager, she put too much credence in rumors and never confronted Dino… she walked away with nary an excuse. When a recent bout of text, calls and email stalking starts to affect her recording performance her manager brings in the big guns to give her a little peace of mind…. Too bad he had no clue he was bringing in the one man that could either give her that peace of mind and all the love she needs or take every ounce of peace away as she lives with the fear of losing him once again. Because if there is one thing fame didn’t give January it was a sense of self confidence that she could be every ounce as worthy of Dino’s love as she truly is.
Deadly Betrayal has all the sexual tension and longing of two people made for each other. I became a little frustrated waiting for these two to finally get past a few hot kisses and seriously get down to the loving. Sometimes you get to the point where you want to jump into the book and clobber the next person that interrupts things. I also found I wanted to clobber the two of them a few times when they would talk themselves out of things because of his wanting to keep things professional and her fear of being hurt. I really liked the way Ms. Jones built the suspense and mystery with the stalker. Expect a twist or two along the way. Deadly Betrayal is a nice start to the Rockford Security series. If you like your romance with a touch of mystery, intrigue and suspense you’re going to like Deadly Betrayal.

It felt as if sleeping beside him, skin to skin, heart to heart, had weaved a tiny golden thread between them and around her heart and it didn’t matter if they never spoke of last night again. Her heart remembered. And with each remembrance, that tiny golden thread squeezed a little tighter, bringing her closer to him whether she wanted to be or not.
Fifteen years they’d waited and wondered and wished for this moment.
Her lips tingled, remembering the first time he’d kissed her behind the bleachers after the homecoming football game. He’d been so proud of their win and she’d been completely in love with the school’s star linebacker. It had been a sweet kiss, all gentle and soft and full of yearning. Her heart ached for the innocent kids they’d been. Innocent until…
Awareness vibrated through her from the simple touch and she glanced up at Dino, only to find him scanning the small café, apparently unaware of the molten lust now shivering through her bloodstream.
