At 6:38 p.m. on November the 8th, 2021, Joshua Campbell-Abrams was kidnapped by an angry, homeless drug addict named Lukas Page. Joshua was severely beaten, suffered a savage concussion, and was held hostage in an abandoned church on the outskirts of Charlottesville for almost seven hours.
During most of that time Colin had no idea where his husband was or even if he was still alive. He only knew that Joshua had been kidnapped and was in the hands of a maniac. Frantic with fear, he joined campus and city police in a joint operation to locate and rescue his missing husband. Using phone logs and GPS tracking, the combined task force was finally able to pin-point Joshua’s location and execute a rescue operation.
In the aftermath of this harrowing experience, both Colin and Joshua struggled to find their emotional footing while at the same time, they were preparing for the trial of Lukas Page in which Joshua was a key prosecution witness.
In six of these stories we watch the trial take place. From opening statements to the final verdict and sentencing, we stand with Colin and Joshua as they work to bring Page to justice.
The remaining stories are a window into Colin and Joshua’s life in the days preceding the trial and shortly afterward. We watch as Colin struggles with his intense fear of letting Joshua out of his sight, especially after dark. We watch as Joshua deals with the challenges of his injuries both physical and emotional, not always making decisions that are in his own best interests.
They have both suffered an unexpected trauma and don’t always demonstrate well-adjusted behaviors in their dealings with each other and with life. But the love they share remains the bedrock of their existence. Their faith in the life they’ve built together remains unwavering. And in these stories we watch as the power of that love guides them to eventual healing.

More Colin and Josh, yes please!
I read this book with my eyes when it was first published back in June and I loved it. The only thing that could have made it any better was to have Walker Williams perform the audiobook. His performance is wonderful. I hope he continues to be available to be the voice of these characters because I just don’t think anyone else could do them as well as he does. My original review is below:

I have loved every book I’ve read by Janice Jarrell. She’s created such a great world for her boys, Colin and Josh, along with their friends Nate and David, and Trent and Adam. In Relevant Justice, a collection of short stories following Josh and Colin after the events in Relevant Law, we get to visit with all of these great characters.
While you might be able to enjoy reading Relevant Justice without having read any of the other books about Colin and Josh, I highly recommend reading The Fearless Heart series in order. Better yet, start at the very beginning and read the Revolutionary Heart series first. If you enjoy audiobooks, then I can also highly recommend listening to the books; that’s actually how I first began reading Ms. Jarrell’s work. Walker Williams is the perfect audio performer for these stories. He brings all of these characters to life and truly enhanced my enjoyment of the books.
The things that Colin and Josh went through in Relevant Law were truly awful and the stories in Relevant Justice give us more insight into what the characters went through after those horrifying events. The love they have for each other is deep and wonderful but not everything is always smooth sailing for them. The most important thing is their love for each other and no matter what life throws at them that love cannot be broken.
I’m not sure what Janice Jarrell has coming next for these characters but I’ll be reading whatever she writes.

My name is Janice Jarrell. I am a retired grandmother who lives in Seattle, WA. I have two children and three grandsons. I’ve been writing gay romance since I was twelve years old, only back then it wasn’t called ‘gay romance’. In fact, it had no name at all. It was the fifty’s, and it was worth your life to admit to being gay, let alone confess to being a girl who constantly fantasized about relationships between gay men. Hell, I didn’t even know what a homosexual was. I lived on a farm out in the sticks in a tiny Michigan village and I’d never, to my knowledge, even heard the word. I just knew I loved the thought of boy-on-boy romance. I just knew that there was something hot going on between Tom Corbett and his Space Cadets and all those guys on ‘Combat’.
I wrote slash fanfiction for 30 years, writing over 337 stories, some as short as 100 words (a drabble), some as long as a series which was over 119,012 words. I enjoy writing my stories. I enjoyed the feedback I received from my readers. It was a creative release I’d been searching for my entire life and I blessed the Internet for leading me to this artistic oasis for my spirit.
Love’s Magic was my very first step into writing my own characters. I will always be grateful to the slash fanfiction community for nurturing the budding author until she was ready to blossom into a fully realized novelist. It’s been an amazing thing to watch the gay community’s growth over these past twenty years. My own journey has echoed theirs in many ways, and I’m grateful to all those gay activists who fought to give the gay community the rights and privileges they always deserved. Love’s Trials, Love’s Glory, and Love’s Lawyer were the second and third, and forth books in the series and all four books are available in audio format on Audible.
I’m also grateful to the gay romance community, readers, authors, publishers and promoters, who are making these, my retirement years, the most creative ones of my life. When I’m not writing, I’m traveling, walking, hiking, knitting, crocheting, and weaving.
