Theo Reese is just like any other seventeen-year-old—with one small exception.
This summer all he wants is to spend time with his boyfriend, Eddie, and work on his MIT research project. His parents have other plans.
An old friend needs the help of Theo’s family. Oliver Glenwood is an ’80s music star who runs his own label. His wife and his daughter, Sofia, now a chart topper herself, are the targets of kidnappers. Oliver hopes they can eliminate whoever is behind the threat.
When Theo uncovers an even more insidious plot, the covert agency the Reeses work for, Tactical Operational Support, swoops into action.
Song files have been modified to steal personal data from devices and emit a tone that drives listeners into a homicidal rage. Theo and his parents race against the clock to stop this mysterious enemy from releasing the music on an unsuspecting populace and causing worldwide chaos.
Just when Theo thinks the mission couldn’t be more complicated, Eddie shows up in New York looking to hang out with his boyfriend.
No one ever said being a teenage secret agent would be easy.

OMG this book was intense!!
The blurb really tells you everything you need to know and almost anything I could add would be a big spoiler. I made some notes while I listened to this book – something I’ve never really done before. Below are some things I noted that aren’t spoilers:
• Theo was drugged and his tech compromised.
• Theo had to kick someone to defend himself and the guy might die.
• While in NYC on the mission Theo is having a hard time and needs to get away so he buys a very expensive bike; like the one he has back home.
• Theo talks to his therapist – he thought it couldn’t get any worse than what happened on his last mission but he was wrong.
• After the NYC mission Theo’s boss wants him to go inactive for a while. This upsets Theo but he knows that everyone goes inactive at one time or another for various reasons. His parents go inactive for one week to be with him.
• Theo’s going to hockey camp for the summer.
There is so much else I want to say but it really would be to much of a spoiler. I will say that there are bad guys everywhere and in places I wasn’t expecting.
As with Tracker Hacker and Schooled, Kirt Graves did a fantastic job with this audiobook. His voice is perfect for these YA stories and I loved how distinctive each voice he’s chosen for the different characters is.
This book ends on more of a cliffhanger than the others and I really can’t wait to listen to Netminder. If Kirt Graves doesn’t finish recording it soon, I may have to break down and read Netminder with my eyes instead of my ears. 😊
