Feat of Clay:
Imprisoned and tortured, undercover cop Tate Williams will find redemption in the arms of his boyhood friend, now lover, former SAS soldier Clay Mortimer.
TWO MEN.
TORN. TORTURED. LOVED.
Though they went their separate ways, Tate Williams and Clay Mortimer have been crazy about each other since their school days. Clay went into the SAS. Tate became a cop. Neither mentioned their attraction to the other. Both sought out danger. Both found it.
Imprisoned and shot in an undercover assignment gone wrong, Tate somehow survived…and found his way back into Clay’s arms. His old friend is now the owner of an elite investigation agency and everything any man could want: patient, handsome, commanding. And Clay knows what it takes to survive. But Tate can’t bring himself to share all his secrets, nightmares that force him to rebel against everything. He finds solace from his past as a graffiti artist, a childhood passion, but his demons drive away all who might care for him. Only when he faces that past—and learns that everyone has tasted despair—can the two men truly be brothers-in-arms…and more.

The Places You’ll Go And The Things That You’ll See
Former SAS soldier, Clay Mortimer, the M in M&W Investigations, had thought he’d seen it all. But when his ex calls and asks for a favour Clay is intrigued, and then a bit surprised. He and his partner, Tate Williams, have a robust and imaginative sex life, but the things they see and learn in Fetish Alley take their understanding of human behaviour to the next level. Tate’s take is part kid in a candy store fascination, part shocked. At the end of the day, all good detective work requires an open mind and the skill to ferret out the truth. Still, the layers of deceit and avarice they encounter are more than par for the course, particularly from people who are not keen about outsiders to the world of Fetish Alley.

I did not need to find a new author to follow! ?
Susan Mac Nicol is a new-to-me author. When I saw For Fox Sake on NetGalley I read the blurb and thought it sounded pretty interesting so I requested a copy. After doing a little research I found that there was a different book, in a different series, about the couple in For Fox Sake so I decided to read it first. That book was Feat of Clay, book 4 in The Men of London series.
While I think you could probably read For Fox Sake without reading Feat of Clay first, you’d miss the whole backstory for Clay and Tate and Feat of Clay is a fantastic story. It’s quick paced, filled with anguish and angst and has a very satisfying HEA.
The blurb for each book is very good and describes each story well. Feat of Clay was a very emotional story to read. Tate has been through so much and it has left him with nightmares and other issues. He just doesn’t really understand why Clay would even want to bother with him. These two guys go through a lot to get to their HEA and I was glued to my ereader until I finished reading this one.
For Fox Sake is the first book in a new series called Fetish Alley. The tone of this story was very different from Feat of Clay. It’s more lighthearted, with much less angst. There’s still a mystery to be solved (it was pretty easy to figure out) and it was great seeing Clay and Tate a few years down the road and now settled in together. After the anguish and angst in Feat of Clay it was kind of refreshing to read something that was pretty different in tone.
Although I have only read the one book in The Men of London series, I know that some of the secondary characters in Feat of Clay had books of their own in The Men of London series; I hope to make time to go back and read them.
I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the Fetish Alley series. It looks like these books may all have Clay and Tate as the MCs (main characters) and I look forward to spending more time with them.
