Strange circumstances around the death of a retired stage magician suggest supernatural involvement, bringing Simon in on the case. The dark secrets of a long-ago resort hotel lead to a trail of unsolved cold cases that have a chilling similarity. Old scandals, malicious magic, and vengeful spirits expose a web of lies, deceit, and death that is headed for a reckoning.

Vic and Simon Forever!
I read this book with my eyes about a year ago and was so happy to get to experience it all over again as an audiobook. Kale Williams has been the voice of all of the Badlands series books and I’m so happy that he was able to perform this one as well. Below is what I wrote when I first read the book. The only thing I can add is what a wonderful job Kale Williams did performing this story.Simon and Vic are getting married – finally!! 🥰 But Morgan Brice doesn’t make things easy for them. In addition to snafus happening with some of the wedding plans, Vic and his partner Ross get a new case that needs Simon’s expertise.
I loved this story so much! There’s a lot of action, murder, mystery and intrigue in Point Blank. It wouldn’t be a Simon and Vic story without ghosts causing trouble and boy do they in this one. So many ghosts!
We also get to visit with family and friends of Simon and Vic, many who have been very helpful to them in the past. There are also brief appearances from characters featured in other Morgan Brice/Gail Z. Martin series. One of the things I really like about her writing is that she gives you ample information in each book so that you don’t feel lost if you jump into a series at any point. I haven’t always read her series in exact order and never felt lost.
I also like how she bases her stories on real places (with the names changed). Her descriptive writing makes me wish that the resort hotel in this book was still available to visit. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of reading about Simon and Vic so I hope that this wedding story isn’t the last we’ll hear from them.

Badlands Series
Morgan Brice is the romance pen name of bestselling author Gail Z. Martin. Morgan writes urban fantasy MM paranormal romance, with plenty of action, adventure and supernatural thrills to go with the happily ever after. Gail writes epic and urban fantasy, with less romance, more explosions.
All of the modern-day Morgan Brice and Gail Z. Martin series crossover, so characters from one series appear in cameos and on page in important secondary roles in books from other series. Each book can be read as a standalone, but the more you read the more the expanded universe of friendships and connections becomes clear.
Morgan and Gail believe that paranormal elements make any story even better, and her worlds are full of ghosts, psychics, shifters, creatures, vampires, monster hunters, and magic.
She’s also a huge fan of the TV show Supernatural. (Chibi art by Kamidiox)
