Simon and Vic’s wedding is just a few weeks away, and they’re hoping for a little peace and quiet to wrap up work before their honeymoon, but nothing ever goes that smoothly.
Strange circumstances around the death of a retired stage magician suggest supernatural involvement, bringing Simon in on the case. The dark secrets of a long-ago resort hotel lead to a trail of unsolved cold cases that have a chilling similarity. Old scandals, malicious magic, and vengeful spirits expose a web of lies, deceit, and death that is headed for a reckoning.
Can Simon and Vic solve the murders, stop the ghosts, keep Simon’s mother from crashing the party, dodge last-minute wedding disasters, and still make it to the altar on time? Or will the shadows of Myrtle Beach’s haunted past ruin everything?
Point Blank is a fast-paced thrill ride MM paranormal romance packed with supernatural suspense, sinister sleight-of-hand, mysterious monsters, psychic visions, hot men, hurt/comfort, loyal friends, wedding planning, found family, ghosts galore, dark magic, and an evolving, established romantic relationship with all the feels.

Vic and Simon Forever!
Simon and Vic are getting married – finally!! 🥰 But Morgan Brice doesn’t make things easy for them. In addition to snafus happening with some of the wedding plans, Vic and his partner Ross get a new case that needs Simon’s expertise.
I loved this story so much! There’s a lot of action, murder, mystery and intrigue in Point Blank. It wouldn’t be a Simon and Vic story without ghosts causing trouble and boy do they in this one. So many ghosts!
We also get to visit with family and friends of Simon and Vic, many who have been very helpful to them in the past. There are also brief appearances from characters featured in other Morgan Brice/Gail Z. Martin series. One of the things I really like about her writing is that she gives you ample information in each book so that you don’t feel lost if you jump into a series at any point. I haven’t always read her series in exact order and never felt lost.
I also like how she bases her stories on real places (with the names changed). Her descriptive writing makes me wish that the resort hotel in this book was still available to visit. I don’t think I’ll ever get tired of reading about Simon and Vic so I hope that this wedding story isn’t the last we’ll hear from them.

O Factor: Scorcher
Character Interview
NAME OF CHARACTER: Simon Kincaide
Q: What impression do you make on people when they first meet you?
A: They think I’m more reserved than I am. It’s the whole nerdy ex-professor vibe. And then there’s some hesitance when they find out about the psychic medium stuff.
Q: How about after they’ve known you for a while?
A: I hope they realize that I’m not serious and spooky.
Q: What is your profession?
A: I have a Ph.D. in Folklore and Mythology and used to be a university professor. Now I run Grand Strand Ghost Tours in Myrtle Beach, SC where I give tours and psychic readings, and I also write books about local hauntings. When a situation arises, I’m also an official consultant with the Myrtle Beach Police Department.
Q: Tell me about your best friend.
A: My best non-romantic friend is Tracey, who owns the pirate-themed coffee shop down the boardwalk from my store. She was one of the first people I met when I moved to town, and she encouraged me to take the risk and start my shop.
Q: Describe your ideal mate.
A: Fortunately, I just married him! Vic D’Amato is my best friend, police partner, and love of my life. He’s a homicide detective for MBPD, and at first he was very skeptical about anything supernatural, but I won him over when he realized that the woo-woo was real.
Q: What’s the most important thing in your life?
A: My wonderful found family. Vic and I have built a supportive, fun group of close friends who are the center of our world. We watch out for each other and anchor one another.
Q: Favorite food?
A: I really enjoy good seafood, and fortunately we live at the beach! There are so many great local places to eat and they’re open even when the tourists go home.
Q: What would you consider your perfect night out?
A: I enjoy dinner and a movie, but I also really love quiet nights at home for ‘Netflix and chill’. Especially with Vic’s police duties, having a night off that doesn’t get interrupted is priceless.
Q: What was your first thought or impression when you met the person you fell in love with?
A: We didn’t meet under the best circumstances. He had hit a wall on a serial killer case and took a risk asking a psychic for help, but it took quite a bit to build trust and convince him that I was the real deal.
Q: What do you like most about the person you fell in love with?
A: Vic is analytical and intuitive, which is why he’s such a good detective. I love to watch his mind work when we’re on a case. And I appreciate that even though he’s in a ‘macho’ profession he isn’t afraid to show a softer side when we’re together.
Thank you.
