Genre: Alien Romance, Sci-fi
Released: December 7, 2021
Publisher: Self-Published
Series: The Warriors of Ishtaan, Book 3
Length: 190 pages
Cover Design: Natasha Snow Designs
Born the bastard son of the elder king and his dula, Voren was abused and tormented as a child simply for committing the ultimate sin of being alive.
His final shame was the disfigurement inflicted deliberately so he could never sire the young Ishtaan so desperately needed.
Rachel Martina Coleman was used to a fight—from the gangs of LA to constantly having to prove herself to her fellow soldiers—but being an expert markswoman didn’t make her invincible. She survived a three-against-one assault by jealous douchebags the night before she woke up on an alien planet. Now, three months later, she realizes she is carrying the physical consequences of that last night on Earth.
Can two damaged souls used to clawing for everything they have finally give up the fight long enough to fall in love, or will both of them stubbornly refuse to admit they might just be perfect for each other.
And will Rachel ultimately be able to trust Voren’s promises, or will she always worry that he wants her for what she can give him, not for who she is?

This series just keeps getting better and better!
Note: this is a series best enjoyed in order. After the teaser / kind of cliffhanger at the end of book 2, Freed by the Alien Prince, I was really anxious to read Rachel’s story. She has been such a fierce warrior that I wondered how she was going to handle being pregnant. We know from the earlier books that she has a thing for Voren and that he also feels something for her but that he feels he is unworthy of being with her because he won’t be able to get her pregnant.
I’m not sure how I can write anything much better than what the blurb for the book says. I can tell you that there were many heart-pounding moments in this story. Just when I thought everything had worked out perfectly, I realized that there was too much of the book left for it to end soon. The author had more devious things up her sleeve for her characters to experience before it was all over. 😊
When Rachel tells Voren that she knows what happened to him to make him infertile, and that she knew this before they ever became romantically involved, I couldn’t stop the tears that ran down my cheeks. Both of these characters have suffered unspeakable things and yet they didn’t let that stop them from becoming the strong people that they are now.
There were a lot of new aliens introduced in this book and I think it will be interesting to see if they come into play again in later stories. One of the things I like about this author’s writing is that she doesn’t ignore normal bodily functions. I know that no one wants to read a lot about characters having to go to the bathroom but it’s also unrealistic to ignore the need completely. Tori addresses the issue in a mater-of-fact way that I found refreshing.
I’m really looking forward to reading the next book, Betrayed by the Alien Prince, coming in early 2022.
