Solomon Trebeck’s heart broke the night of his bi-awakening.
Fifteen years later, Sol’s back in Cornwall where it happened, single, shy, and oh-so lonely. Teaching art to kids wasn’t his life plan. Neither is raising a teenage nephew, but with no family left to support him, a live-in job at a boarding school becomes his life raft.
Problem: that life raft is sinking.
Solution: Sol’s first love could have the cash to keep it afloat.
Reconnecting with Jace Pascoe might save the school—the one place Sol’s nephew is happy. Asking for his help opens old wounds, but Jace helps to heal them, fusing Sol’s broken heart back together. However, Jace has his own shadows, no matter how brightly his smile dazzles.
Falling for Jace again could be so easy. It could also be a huge risk when neither of them plans to stay in Cornwall forever….
♥ Featuring sweet angst, hurt/comfort, and second chances for a shy heart, Sol is a standalone MM romance novel in the Learning to Love series with a fulfilling happily ever after. ♥

This series is soo good!
When I first started reading Con Riley’s books (her Seattle series) I was a bit critical because I thought the stories ended too abruptly and should have had epilogues. Well, let me tell you that her recent books have been fantastic with wonderful epilogues. I stuck with her books because I thought the writing was exceptional and this series hasn’t changed that opinion one little bit. In fact, I think her writing just keeps getting better and better.
Friends-to-lovers and second chance stories are pretty much tied for my favorite romance tropes; Sol hits both of those and knocks them out of the park. Sol and Jace shared something special when they were young but fate ripped them apart from each other before anything serious could get started leaving both of them hurt and suffering.
Now, many years later, they meet again back where it all started in Cornwall. The magnetic attraction is still there and they want to see where it can lead. They have several obstacles to overcome. One of them being Sol having custody of his nephew, Connor, who has been acting out a lot lately. The other is the school where Sol works is about to go under. If that happens then Sol will have to look for another teaching job and will have to uproot Connor again. Sol’s not sure if his fragile relationship with Connor can withstand those hits, let along adding a new romance into the mix.
I don’t know how Con Riley does it. Her words just make me feel all kinds of emotions. I thought the sexual tension and strong feelings between Sol and Jace radiated off of the pages as I read. The frustration that Sol has been feeling lately was also palpable. He really wants to have a relationship with Jace but he must put Connor first. Fortunately, Connor and Jace connect with each other. All three of them, Sol, Connor and Jace, have art in common but Connor and Jace connect with each other because of their desire to bring social injustices out into the open.
I loved everything about this story. There was a surprise that I didn’t see coming and there were a couple of things about the school that weren’t completely resolved in Sol but I don’t consider it a cliffhanger in any way. Luke’s book is coming next; I’ve been wanting to know what his story is since we first met him and I can’t wait to read his book.

CON RILEY lives on the wild and wonderful Welsh coast, with her head in the clouds and her feet in the ocean.
Injury curtailed her enjoyment of outdoor pursuits, so writing fiction now fills her free time. Love, loss, and redemption shape her romance stories, and her characters are flawed in ways that make them live and breathe.
When not people-watching or reading, she spends time staring at the sea from her kitchen window. If you see her, don’t disturb her — she’s probably thinking up new plots.
