Synopsis

Lives change in an instant, but with family found and forever love, there is always hope.

Impetuously putting his life on the line, Adam saved a child trapped in a car wreck and suffered career-ending injuries. Living with chronic pain, and at his lowest moments, he had friends who wouldn’t let him give up, a family who had his back, and even though his future was different from what he’d always planned, he at least had hope. When Cameron and Finn land on his doorstep, he never dreamed that he would fall in love with the small family or that maybe he’d get to be a hero again.

Cameron goes from being a devoted husband to a single dad overnight. With his neatly planned future in ruins, he will do anything to make a new life for his son, even if it means moving to the other side of the country. Renting a room from Adam is the first step in making a home for him and Sam, but falling for the former firefighter was never part of the plan.

The shadows from Cameron’s past might take a long time to touch this fragile future, but will he have to face the consequences alone when they do? Or will there always be hope?

Another winner from RJ Scott!

There’s a good reason why RJ Scott is one of my favorite MM romance authors. She writes fantastic books with a lot of heart and sometimes a bit more than a little suspense. Always is one of those with a lot of heart and just a little suspense.

Always is the fourth book in the Single Dads series. You can read this as a standalone but you will be missing some great books, as well as the back stories for some of the characters appearing in this book. So, my recommendation is to read all of them in order; I don’t think you’ll be a bit sorry if you do.

Adam and Cam are both suffering. Adam is recovering from devastating injuries he got saving a child while he was on-the-job as a firefighter. Cam’s husband betrayed him and a lot of other people. He’s moved across the country with his son to escape from the place that’s no longer home.

I loved everything about this book. All of the main characters from this and the other books in the series are such caring people. I liked that the romance was built slowly, even though the spark was there early on. The research that Cam did to try and make Adam comfortable while they are intimate was such a thoughtful and caring thing to do.

I’m not sure that I’ve ever read a book by RJ Scott that didn’t make me tear up at least a little (that means it’s a really good book) and Always was no exception. I am so happy there will be more books in this series. I can’t wait to read more about Cam’s best friend, Nick, who played an important role in Always.
