Matt Dorning likes his life just the way it is. Escorting provides him with enough money to live in his favorite city New York, and he’s been doing it long enough that he knows the rules: don’t give it away when there’s always someone who’ll pay for it; always leave them wanting more; and never, never lose your heart to a client.
Lucas Sawyer is about to challenge all Matt’s rules. He’s a beautiful man who shouldn’t need to pay for sex, and yet, Matt knows he’s the latest hooker in a long line. Lucas lives a life Matt can only dream of, but it doesn’t appear to make him happy. There’s something going on beneath that poised, self-assured exterior. And Matt also knows that his time with Lucas won’t last forever – escorts have a certain shelf life where he’s concerned.
So, what happens when the man who doesn’t “do” relationships starts to question his life? Lucas is about to embark on a journey of self discovery…and Matt’s life is about to get messy.
Although this is part of the Material World series, it is a stand-alone novella. Expect sex, silk, and sensuality.

Fantastic story and oh, so hot!
It’s no secret that John Solo is one of my favorite audiobook performers. He doesn’t just narrate a book, he performs it. I loved all of the emotions he showed while reading this story. K.C. Wells writes wonderful books and they run the gamut from sort of sweet to super-hot. Silk is definitely on the hot end of the spectrum.
The story engaged me right from the beginning and didn’t let me go. I could listen to John Solo’s voice all day long and not get tired of it. I could also read K.C. Wells stories all day long and never get tired of them. Combining K.C.’s writing and John’s fantastic voice is one of my favorite things.
Lucas is a wealthy man who hires escorts for sex but the encounters leave him feeling like something is missing. He never uses the same escort more than once – that is until he hires Matt. Matt has multiple jobs, being an escort is just one of them. He also works in his family’s restaurant – his father is grooming him to take over one day – and he also models men’s underwear.
As soon as they meet, Lucas knows that Matt is different but he doesn’t see him again right away. Matt knew that Lucas was a one-shot deal when they met up so he was shocked to get another call from him. I really liked these two guys together; their chemistry was great and John Solo’s voice really brought that out.
I can’t say enough good things about this book. K.C. Wells’ words and John Solo’s voice guarantee a fantastic listening experience every single time.

K.C. Wells lives on an island off the south coast of the UK, surrounded by natural beauty. She writes about men who love men, and can’t even contemplate a life that doesn’t include writing.
The rainbow rose tattoo on her back with the words ‘Love is Love’ and ‘Love Wins’ is her way of hoisting a flag. She plans to be writing about men in love – be it sweet and slow, hot or kinky – for a long while to come.
K.C. started writing gay romance in 2012, and at the time of writing this, (July 2020) she has sixty books published. Judging by the outlines in her Plot Bunnies folder, there’s a lot more to come…
