Another very romantic story from Nell Iris.
If you’ve followed my reviews on this blog, you’ll already know how much I love Nell Iris’s stories. She writes the most romantic short stories and novellas. Telling a complete story in a short amount of words isn’t easy but she masters it every single time.
Four Christmases tells the story of Auden Whipple and Porter Eldin, whose families are feuding like the Hatfields and McCoys. Auden doesn’t even know what the feud is about because no one in his family will tell him. He meets Porter one Christmas when he is talking a walk to get away from all of the noise his family makes. They make a connection and a relationship develops.
This is a slow-burn story with very little sexy time but that doesn’t matter because it’s such a romantic story. It’s a bit sad in places but it’s ultimately a very happy story about overcoming obstacles and pursuing what makes you happy. It really touched my heart.
Oftentimes when I finish a shorter book I want to hear more from the characters; I’m just that kind of reader who always wants more. Four Christmases didn’t really leave me wanting for more – and I mean that as a compliment to the author. I thought the ending was very satisfying and I loved everything about this story.

O Factor: Spicy
Nell Iris is a romantic at heart who believes everyone deserves a happy ending. She’s a bona fide bookworm (learned to read long before she started school), wouldn’t dream of going anywhere without something to read (not even the ladies’ room), loves music (and singing along but, let’s face it, she’s no Celine Dion), and is a real Star Trek nerd (“Make it so”). She loves words, poetry, wine, and Sudoku, and absolutely adores elephants!
Nell believes passionately in equality for all regardless of race, gender, or sexuality, and wants to make the world a better, less hateful, place.
Nell is a forty-something bisexual Swedish woman, married to the love of her life, and a proud mama of a grown daughter. She left the Scandinavian cold and darkness for warmer and sunnier Malaysia a few years ago, and now spends her days writing, surfing the Internet, enjoying the heat, and eating good food. One day she decided to chase her lifelong dream of being a writer, sat down in front of her laptop, and wrote a story about two men falling in love.
Nell Iris writes gay romance, prefers sweet over angst, and wants to write diverse and different characters.
