Synopsis

Will Oliver get the gift he’s hoping for this Christmas?

Oliver Walker’s Christmas is shaping up to be a quiet one. That is until hunky neighbour Ed Middleton moves in next door.

Attraction is instant, but Ed is only there temporarily and neither wants to start something with an expiration date.

As the festive season approaches, holiday cheer wraps around them, and giving in to temptation is inevitable. But Ed is still set on moving in the new year—a fresh start, miles away from those he’s closest to.

If Oliver doesn’t want to lose his heart, he’ll have to show Ed that home is wherever he wants it to be, and love is possible no matter what.

I loved it!

No Place Like Home is such a sweet story, with just a hint of spice towards the end. I’ve just read the blurb over again… while it is slanted more towards Oliver and his feelings, I felt the book was much more about Ed.

Ed and his sisters inherited a house from their aunt. Ed will live there temporarily while they get it ready to sell. After a bad breakup, that shook his confidence where relationships are concerned, Ed has plans to move north, a couple of hours away from his family.

Oliver is living with his adopted grandmother, next door to Ed. After a rather rocky introduction they strike up a friendship that turns into more over time even though they both know it has an expiration date. Oliver knows that Ed will be moving but he hopes that their relationship will change Ed’s mind and he’ll decide to stay.

Ed and Oliver are so sweet together and I really felt their feelings for each other through the words that Annabelle Jacobs wrote. While there are a couple of hot scenes, the story is much more about the relationship that develops between them. It’s also about the importance of family and how family relationships influence you. It’s obvious throughout the story that Ed and Oliver both care deeply for their families. It’s sad that Ed has allowed nasty words from his failed relationship to convince him that he needs to move away from his family.

Ed and Oliver get their Happily Ever After (HEA) and I loved the epilogue where someone else also gets their HEA. No Place Like Home is one of my favorite holiday stories this year.
