A great second chance story.
The Best Ever: A 1NightStand Story By Deanna Wadsworth
Genre: Contemporary Romance, GLBTQ, MM
Released: February 14, 2018
Publisher: Decadent Publishing
Narrator: Terrence Leonardo
Series: 1NightStand
Note: Decadent Publishing’s 1Night Stand series is a multi-author collaboration about the mysterious, magical Madame Eve who matches her clients with their soul mates, regardless of circumstance or location. Short stories, some are linked (usually by same author), all genres of romance. Can be read in any order.
Jason Lewis is a self-proclaimed nerdy guy who hates his red hair. Bullied most of his life, at 22 social situations still make him awkward. On a trip to the World Video Game Expo in Las Vegas, Jason decides to enlist the help of Madame Eve in his failed romantic endeavors. While at the con, he runs into sexy, professional baseball pitcher Blake Huntington, the guy he tutored in high school. Blake invites him to a party and after hanging out with his high school crush, Jason begins to regret booking his 1NS “encounter” later that night. But Madame Eve may have planned the best night ever.

A great second chance story.
I love second chance stories and this was a good one, albeit a little short with a bit of an abrupt ending. The premise of the 1Night Stand stories (each is a standalone) is that Madame Eve matches her clients with their soul mates, regardless of circumstance or location. Goodreads says the print book is 54 pages; the audio that I listened to was 2 hours long.
Nerdy red-head, Jason Lewis, is awkward in social situation so he decides to book a date with Madame Eve while he’s in Las Vegas for video game convention. While there he runs into Major League Baseball player, Blake, whom he tutored in high school. The blurb for the book pretty much says everything about the story so give it a read.
I’ll add that I really enjoyed the narration by Terrance Leonardo. His voice captured how I envisioned the 22-year-old might sound and the sex scenes were really hot. I was engrossed in the story right from the beginning. The only thing that I found irritating was the use of hashtags throughout the entire story. (e.g. They were spoken as “hashtag I’m such as nerd.”) I don’t think this would have bothered me as much if I had read the book but it got a bit tiresome while listening to it. That might be because I’m past 60; younger people might not be bothered by this at all. ?
Because the whole premise of the story is that it’s a one-night-stand, the book does end a bit abruptly but I was satisfied with the HFN. In all honestly, though, I wouldn’t mind a follow-up story about these two guys.

Deanna Wadsworth might be a bestselling erotica author, but she leads a pretty vanilla life in Ohio with her wonderful husband and a couple adorable cocker spaniels. She has been spinning tales and penning stories since childhood, and her first erotic novella was published in 2010. She has served multiple board positions at her local RWA chapter and is the current President 2017 for Rainbow Romance Writers of America. When she isn’t writing books or brainstorming with friends, you can find her making people gorgeous in a beauty salon. She loves music and dancing, and can often be seen hanging out on the sandbar in the muddy Maumee River or chilling with her hubby and a cocktail in their basement bar. In between all that fun, Deanna cherishes the quiet times when she can let her wildly active imagination have the full run of her mind. Her fascination with people and the interworkings of their relationships have always inspired her to write romance with spice and love without boundaries.
