Synopsis

The Hardass

Focused and in control at all times. Most people think I’m a prick—and I’ll be the first to admit that’s probably true. But I’d rather be a take-no-shit cop than the kind of man genetics says I should be. You break the law, you pay the price. I don’t give a damn if you’re the captain’s daughter or the Queen of friggin’ England.

The Princess

I have no patience for the cocky men my father oversees. Or maybe it’s just Sergeant Hardass who gets under my skin. Not only is he sexy as sin, he refuses to cut me a break. And now I have to work with the arrogant jerk.

I shouldn’t want him, but a secret part of me craves his unforgiving edge. He could give me everything I need, but, first, I have to break down his walls.

I have to make him bend.

I think this is Molly’s hottest book yet;
it will melt your panties!

I’ve been reading Molly McLain’s books from the very beginning and have enjoyed all of them. With the Vegas Heat series she really turns up…well, the heat! This book is not for the faint of heart. The characters like it hard and fast and they talk dirty!The story is told in first person, alternating between Trent and Kinsey. Trent is a cop and he’s pulled Kinsey over for various traffic violations more than once; he also just happens to work for Kinsey’s dad. Kinsey feels like he is picking on her and is tired of his harassment. She really doesn’t want to have anything to do with cops.

When Kinsey needs help catching the person stealing merchandise from the store she manages, she is forced to work closely with Trent after he is assigned the case. Despite their negative attitude towards each other, underneath there is a spark of something. Trent doesn’t want to act on it because he has a secret and he’s afraid if Kinsey finds out she will run away. He also thinks he’s not good enough for her.

I could feel the tension between these two from the very beginning of the story. While I was certain that they’d end up together it was great to read how they got there. The story tugged on my emotions and I felt so bad for Trent when he revealed his secret. There are also some pretty intense scenes between Kinsey and her overprotective father that had me siding with her.

Like I said, Ms. McLain really turns up the heat in this story. The language is coarse and the sex is explicit and plentiful. The writing is still the same fantastic storytelling that I’ve come to expect from her and I’m looking forward to reading more in this series.
