Loveswept
Drew McGovern is living for two. Her fiancé, Colby, used to savor the feeling of a powerful gale, the rain pelting his face as the sky grew dark—until a shocking tragedy struck him down. Drew’s still grieving his death a year later when she bumps into some of his old storm chasing buddies. For reasons she can’t explain, she volunteers for the next tornado. But when she reconnects with Colby’s best friend, Aiden O’Neal, Drew gets a breath of fresh air that stirs the ashes of her broken heart.
Aiden doesn’t trust himself around Drew. He’s wanted this girl for a long time—long enough to remember the stab of jealousy he felt the first time he saw her in Colby’s arms, long enough to remember the tears that fell as they buried the man they each still miss. Now he’s trying his best to behave himself. But when the wind ruffles Drew’s hair and puts a sparkle in her eye, Aiden can’t resist the urge to hold her close. And when it comes to true love, he’s holding out hope that lightning strikes twice.

Emotionally charged with lots of sexual tension.
This was my first book by Brenda Rothert and what a great introduction to her writing it was. The story is told in first-person with chapters alternating between Drew and Aiden. We already know from the book blurb that Drew’s fiancé, Colby, died. Chapters 1 and 2 are kind of a prologue to the main story giving us more detail about what happened to Colby. The story then picks up one year later.Aiden was Colby’s best friend. He was attracted to Drew from the first time he met her but Colby got to her first and they ended up engaged. Now that Colby is dead Aiden feels guilty about the feelings he has for Drew and he also feels like he’s not good enough for her.
After a year of grieving Drew has decided to get on with her life and impulsively joins the storm chasing team that Colby was a part of; a team that Aiden is still on. When Drew is assigned to partner with Aiden he doesn’t know how he’ll be able to handle being next to her in a car all day.
This story is filled with sexual tension between Drew and Aiden. They spend hours with each other and Aiden alternates between lusting after Drew and pushing her away. When they finally get together the sexy time is HOT! There is liberal use of strong language throughout the book. Parts of this story were very emotional and I found it hard to put down.
I love books that have an epilogue and the one for this story is fantastic! It lets us know how Drew and Aiden are doing several years after the main story concludes. This might have been my first Brenda Rothert book but it won’t be my last one.
