Two mates are better than one…
Vanessa lives vicariously through the romance heroines in her overflowing bookshelf. No real man can ever measure up to the sultry, shapeshifter heroes with their feral smiles—or so she thinks until a creepy costume shop and a chance encounter with a fortuneteller shake up her ordinary life. When Vanessa’s best friend brings her to a sexy costume party, she realizes more than fur is going to fly.
Rick is an Alpha cat shifter and co-owner of the Imaginarium. When he scents the luscious Vanessa, he has no intention of letting her slip away. But Rick isn’t the only man searching for his one true love. Cian is a former Captain of the Winter Court in Faery, wielder of shadows and magic. When Fey enchantment and shifter might collide, more than mere hearts are caught in the crossfire. And as a threat looms closer with the turning of the season, both men may be the keys to Vanessa’s heart—and her survival.
Reader note: contains BBW heroine, ménage, and erotic romance elements
Spirit Board< wasn’t an overly long story but it was certainly satisfying. So I got my fix of paranormal, fantasy and the erotic with a touch of BDSM…mmm. So what was missing? Aliens, comic book heroes? Nope, nope. Spirit Board is the perfect blend as is. I guess if I have to name a fault it would be that it ended. But that’s ok because we got our HFN and we know there is definitely more to this story coming, after all, we didn’t get to meet the evil faery queen in person yet. However, we did meet two hot doms and a curious human willing to step outside the safety of her romance books.
Vanessa has been somewhat sheltered and under her father’s thumb for most of her life. So, it is only recently that she has begun to explore friendships and life away from home. After a swap of eReaders gives her friend a clue to just what interests her, Aria decides to spice up her life with a costume party. And, oh, what a party this one is. A spanking party to be precise. Poor Vanessa isn’t sure if she should be shocked or titillated. She won’t be wondering for long because she is irrevocably drawn to two of the men and soon finds herself forever linked to them in a mated triumvirate. She is also forever changed and her heritage revealed. Life is going to get ever so interesting for this alpha female.
Rick and Cian have been partners in a BDSM club for years. Cian and his fellow fae weave their magic. Rick and his pride of cats provide the brawn. Together they build a defense against the coming darkness that is the Winter Queen. They’ve each waited years to find their mate, neither suspecting that they would share one together. After all, it is one thing to share an occasional lover quite another to share a mate. But the surprises don’t stop here for this fierce duo. Vanessa is perhaps more than either could have wished for.
I loved the flow of this story. It has just the right amounts of intrigue, magic and spice. I’m really looking forward to seeing where Ms. Bishop takes this group of characters from here. Will she continue the triumvirate’s story or will she continue with others in the group? Personally, I’m hoping for a bit of both.
