What happened to my predictable life?
I had a stable life as a fire captain in Seattle, married to one of my best friends and raising two awesome kids. Now, my kids are grown, and my marriage is toast. I’m solidly past forty and back in my tiny hometown of Mount Hope, Oregon, filling in as a firefighter. My future is one big question mark keeping me up at night.
Also keeping me up? The short-order cook at Honey’s Hotcake Hut.
Denver might be close to my age, but we’re total opposites. The former rock roadie runs from stability, never puts down roots, and lives for the moment. Point in case, we barely speak before he invites me into his shower.
Content Warning: UP ALL NIGHT is a low-angst, high-feels, small-town romance, but it does touch very gently on issues of loss, divorce, starting over, substance abuse, and neglectful parenting, all in the past. A happy ending is guaranteed!

A wonderful start to a new series!
I love books with older MCs (main characters) and this one is really great. Sean is divorced with two grown kids and has returned to his home town of Mount Hope. He’s a bit uncertain of where he fits now but he loves being a firefighter so he is filling in on the Mount Hope force while he figures things out. He’s a bit confused by his attraction to the short-order cook at the diner near the fire station, a place the first-responders frequent.
Denver grew up in the foster care system and became a rock roadie before giving up his wild ways to roam and cook. He doesn’t do relationships of any kind but especially not with guys who are questioning or not out because he’s been burned before.
I love how Annabeth Albert’s books make me feel. They almost always invoke strong emotions and this one is no exception. Up All Night sets up her new series and introduces a tight group of friends who I’m sure will all be getting their HEA at some point. I really want his recently widowed friend, Eric, to find love again and I’m sure he will but the next book is about Caleb and Tony. Up All Night has an epilogue that is an introduction to Off the Clock (available now to pre-order).
