Synopsis

One Comic-Con. One chance encounter. One kiss that changes everything.

Beck
I never claimed to be easy to love. My steady stream of ex-girlfriends is proof positive, and my anxiety pretty much confirms I’ll be alone for the rest of my life. No matter who I date, I can’t ever feel completely myself.

At least until I met Cay, who’s bright, charming, and captures my attention from the start. And one kiss at a Comic-Con sparks some very not-straight feelings in me.

Cay
I’ve spent my whole life trying to make people happy, yet all my effort never seems to be enough. But when a blind double date lands me next to the guy I’ve been thinking about ever since Comic-Con, I’m ready to claim something for myself. Even if I’ve never been into guys before and I have no clue what I’m doing.

That single kiss sparked something in both of us that we can’t seem to deny, and we agree to fool around, exploring where this chemistry leads. All too fast, feelings take the wheel, steering me off the course of fast and easy. However, being bi is new for both of us, and when the time arrives to come out, I don’t know if I’ll be taking that step forward with Beck…or alone.

I couldn’t put it down!

I loved this book! When I first started reading MM romance a popular trope was Gay for You (GFY). That term is no longer used, instead we now have bi-awakening and I understand why that change was made. But I have to say that this story really hooked me because it reminded me so much of those early GFY books I read. Of course, the writing was also excellent and kept me glued to my e-Reader until I finished.

Beck and Cay meet at a Comic-Con convention. Beck is dressed as Superman and Cay is dressed as Batman. A group of young fans see them together and urge them to kiss and, surprising them both, they do and there are sparks. Both men consider themselves straight, never having had sexual thoughts about another man before. They hang out at the convention but don’t exchange contact information. After the convention neither of them can forget what happened, or the sparks they felt. They both regret not exchanging information. Fate steps in and they meet again several months later.

This was such a sweet story, very low angst. Both Beck and Cay are great characters and the affection they feel for each other really comes through in the writing. This is my first book by K.C. Carmine but I’ve read many by Katherine McIntyre. UnConVentional Kiss is a well written story and I think the authors make a good writing duo.

About Author

Katherine McIntyre

Katherine McIntyre is a feisty chick with a big attitude despite her short stature. She writes stories featuring snarky women, ragtag crews, and men with bad attitudes—high chance for a passionate speech thrown into the mix. As an eternal geek and tomboy who’s always stepped to her own beat, she’s made it her mission to write stories that represent the broad spectrum of people out there. Easily distracted by cats and sugar.

About Author

K.C. Carmine

K.C. Carmine loves writing about people falling in love with a focus on characters and their (very spicy) journey to HEA. As a member of the queer community, it is important to her that her writing reflects the diversity of voices around her. While she is a lover of romance, she also enjoys horror, paranormal and mystery stories. When she’s not writing, she likes travelling, playing the guitar, video games, and reading.
