This book just blew me away!

There is no way my review can do justice to this book. If you like stories with a lot of depth and wonderful characters I can’t recommend Breakaway highly enough.

The blurb gives an excellent description of the story but it can’t convey the chemistry that crackles between Dallas and Greer or the emotional depth to the story. Dallas has buried his authentic self so deep for so long that he can’t believe how he responds to Greer’s advances towards him. Greer is at first determined to conquer Dallas but soon realizes that he wants more than a one-off conquest.

This story took me on a rollercoaster ride with my emotions going all over the place – my favorite kind of book. While this story isn’t a mystery or a romantic suspense novel, I have to say that I was on tenterhooks while reading a lot of it. I was both concerned that something awful was going to happen and at the same time wondered when it was going to happen.

Breakaway is full of steamy scenes between Dallas and Greer and I loved the connection the two of them have with each other. Unfortunately, Dallas’s worse-than-conservative upbringing is still messing with his head and that jeopardizes their relationship.

I feel compelled to mention one thing that bothered me a bit. The term “his trainer” was used a lot as Greer thought of Dallas and that just seemed kind of weird to me. The term “his mister” was also used kind of excessively, both when Dallas was thinking about Greer and when Greer was thinking about Dallas. It wasn’t quite enough to pull me out of the story but it certainly was noticeable.

Overall, though, I still loved this book. If you are a fan of angsty, sometimes gut-wrenching stories with an HEA this might be the book for you.

I tragically lost my sixteen year old daughter to a drunk driver. She had just been at home, it was early in the night and I heard the accident happen. I’ll never forget that moment. The sirens were immediate and something inside me just knew. I left my house, drove straight to the accident on nothing more than instinct. I got to be there when my little girl died – weirdly, I consider that a true gift from above. She didn’t have to be alone.

That time in my life was terrible. It’s everything you think it would be times about a billion. I love that kid. I loved being her mother and I loved watching her grow into this incredibly beautiful person, both inside and out. She was such a gift to me. To have it all ripped away so suddenly broke me.

Her name was Kindle. Honest to goodness – it was her name and she died a few weeks before Amazon released their brand new Kindle ereader. She had no idea it was coming out and she would have finally gotten her name on something! Try finding a ruler with the name Kindle on it.. It never happened.

Through the course of that crippling event I was lucky enough to begin to write with a dear friend in the fan fiction world of Facebook. She got me through those dark days with her unwavering support and friendship. There wasn’t a time she wasn’t there for me. Sometimes together and sometimes by myself, we built a world where Kindle lives and stands for peace, love and harmony. It’s its own kind of support group. I know without question I wouldn’t be here today without her.
