Excerpt

Hannah held Matt’s gaze for what felt like an eternity, or maybe just a second. He stepped back from the table. She looked down at the empty glass in her hands, then out over the moving crowd, anywhere but at the space he’d occupied. A pang of disappointment reverberated below her ribs, fighting with the music for space in her body.
She took a deep breath, lifting her head. It shouldn’t matter. She came here with Elena and now wanted to hang out with Evan. He was funny, attractive, and interested. She shouldn’t feel disappointed that Matt was leaving and not looking at her anymore.
“I wouldn’t have expected to bump into you in a place like this.” Hannah drew in a deep breath at the low voice in her ear before she turned, her nose almost bumping into the center of Matt’s chest.
She raised her eyes, looking into his face. His expression gave nothing away. He’d gotten better at that face since she’d known him last. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
He tilted his head, examining her face. “From the way you dress in the office you look all prim and proper.” A smile tugged at the corners of his mouth. “Or do you have an inner naughty librarian thing going on?”
Hannah’s nostrils flared, and she didn’t know how to respond. She narrowed her eyes. “Maybe I do. And I’m not sure seeing me at work a few times gives you enough information to judge my character.”
He opened his mouth and closed it again, shaking his head a little, the playful smirk now gone. “You’re right. Seeing you a few times wouldn’t give me that kind of information.” He leaned in closer. “But my window overlooks the front doors. I’ve seen you every day.”
The low rumble of his voice sent shivers down Hannah’s spine, but she didn’t want to let him know that he affected her. Still. After all this time his presence and his voice in her ear had arousal zinging down her spine and wetness soaking her thong. Instead she gave him a cheeky grin. “Stalking me now? That seems inappropriate for an HR manager.”
He sucked in a breath in response, his eyes going wide. “No. What? I’m not—”
Hannah laughed, both at his stammering response and that her flippant comment had reduced him to this. When she’d known him before, he’d been smooth and unflappable. The only time she’d been able to get him flustered or losing control was in the bedroom. Or the back of the car, or covered by a blanket under the stars on the beach, or … Yeah, she needed to stop thinking about that. She laid a hand on his arm, the memories making her feel closer to him than she should. “I’m kidding, Matt.”
His eyes zeroed in on where she touched him. She realized what she was doing and jerked her hand away. A look passed over his face, almost like disappointment, but then he put his neutral mask back in place.

Delicious Second Chance Romance

I can’t resist a hot campus romance and Jerica MacMillan delivers big time with Managed Hearts! Hannah’s heart still hasn’t quite healed in the three years since the end of her incredible summer romance with Matt. So she’s a bit rattled to discover he works at the very same company where she just started her internship. Oh boy! Matt Schwartz has only gotten hotter and more ripped from playing on the Marycliff football team. When he realizes that Hannah Glover is sitting in his orientation class, he can’t believe it. Memories slam into him like the waves he loves to surf. And it suddenly hits home just what an idiot he was for ghosting on her. This girl is IT for him. How is he going to manage to win Hannah’s heart again?

The chemistry between these two leaps off the pages and wraps you up in their sexy, angsty, naughty goodness! In some ways, it’s as if they’ve never been apart. Matt recalls every detail of their sizzling summer, as well as every inch of Hannah’s body like it was yesterday. And he sets out to prove it. Hannah wants, more than anything, to trust Matt but it’s going to take more than hot spanky sex to win her over. Not that hot spanky sex isn’t a plus. Because Matt is so goooood at it!

Ms. MacMillan’s writing is gorgeous. She never fails to place you smack dab in the story, feeling her character’s every emotion. I love that Matt can’t help his macho caveman ways while trying to win Hannah’s heart as well as the way Hannah stands up and demands what she wants. This delicious second chance romance has it all; swoony romance, humor, fab dialogue, and a hot hero determined to show his girl how much she means to him.
