Synopsis

Undercover Shifter Bad Boys = Alphas With Serious Attitude
Tumble Across the Rubicon Into the Death-Riddled World of International Espionage
As an agent for an international espionage firm, Miranda has her hands more than full. Between secretly lusting after her boss, Garen, and making sure the dirty little secret about her double life as a wolf shifter remains hidden, she’s still a virgin at nearly thirty.

Sent to eliminate the head of a human trafficking organization in Amsterdam, she barely escapes with her life. Injured, frightened, and under attack the second her private jet lands in the U.S., she’s not certain where to turn.

Garen’s watched Miranda just as surreptitiously as she’s been eyeing him. Unfortunately, the fact that she works for him is a showstopper. Plus, he has a few secrets of his own that have kept him single. When Miranda insists on heading up a covert operation, he can’t come up with a plausible reason to stop her. Watching her sprint headlong into danger damn near kills him. He wants to hold her, love her, protect her.

Miranda’s life is on the line. Will Garen risk exposure to save her?

International espionage just got a bit hairy.

Always providing a great read, Ms. Gimpel brings her flair to the world of international espionage shifter style in Garen, the first in her Rubicon International series.

Established at the beginning of the American Revolution, Rubicon International has been in the spy business for centuries. At the helm of the US division, Garen is a wolf shifter. His partner, Lars, all cat through and through heads up the European division. Together these two have built a rock solid espionage business at the forefront in taking down terrorists, human traffickers and the like. While these two are the best of friends their approach to recruitment is night and day different. Where Lars concentrates on hiring shifters specifically from the get go, Garen hires from all species then culls the herd until he’s got the best… shifters of course. Just one problem with his approach… He now has an operative he’s falling for and he has no clue if she’s a shifter or not. She’s in trouble and possibly in over her head. But Garen is in a no-win situation when it comes to reigning in Miranda. What’s a man to do when so many secrets are at risk and the woman he loves is leading the charge into a minefield of that could blow up in both their faces?

Miranda has had the hots for her boss for ages. Too bad he hasn’t ever noticed her. Even if he did, she’s not exactly in a position to get involved with anyone. Keeping her wolf secret is at the top of her priorities when it comes to love… not exactly conducive to happily ever afters. Is it any wonder she’s still a virgin at nearly thirty? Now her wolf is taking notice… the only problem… She’s discovered she’s interested in two distinct men… Garen and the mysterious pack alpha and really she doesn’t have time for this nonsense because she has a trafficking ring to bust. Life is about to get rather interesting as Miranda infiltrates the ring and goes for the kingpin. Blood will spill and lives will hang in the balance. But maybe if she is very lucky someone will have her back when she needs it most.

Garen is a romantic suspense paranormal style. If you’re looking for action and adventure you’ll find it. If you’re looking for the hot loving of forever mates then Garen and Miranda deliver.

About Author

Ann Gimpel

I’m basically a mountaineer at heart. I remember many hours at my desk where my body may have been stuck inside four walls, but my soul was planning yet one more trip to the backcountry.
Around the turn of the last century (that would be 2000, not 1900!), I finagled a move to the Eastern Sierra, a mecca for those in love with the mountains. Stories always ran around in my head on backcountry trips, sometimes as a hedge against abject terror when challenging conditions made me fear for my life, sometimes for company.
Eventually, the inevitable happened. I returned from a trip and sat down at the computer. Three months later, a five hundred page novel emerged. It wasn’t very good, but it was a beginning. I learned a lot between writing that novel and its sequel, and I’ve been writing ever since.
In addition to turning out books, I enjoy wilderness photography. A standing joke is that over ten percent of my pack weight is camera gear, which means my very tolerant husband has to carry the food — and everything else too.
