Samantha Kane’s Birmingham Rebels series—perfect for fans of Shayla Black and Lexi Blake—proves that three’s never a crowd . . . at least not for the hard-bodied football all-stars who give teamwork a sexy twist.

Quarterback Tyler Oakes plays hard and parties even harder. That reckless lifestyle nearly derailed his career, and now the Birmingham Rebels are Ty’s last shot at football immortality. But staying out of trouble can take its toll—especially for a man with a taste for girls and guys. Because curvy, gorgeous Randi McInish is just the kind of trouble he’d like to get into.

A tough-as-nails undercover cop, Randi meets her match in Ty. After they get wrapped up together in a drug bust and a high-speed car chase, Randi’s eager to take the notorious bad boy for another wild ride. Turns out Ty already has something in mind. When he introduces her to the Rebels’ sexy new quarterback coach, things start heating up a little too fast for Randi.

Brian Mason coached Ty in college, and boy do they have history together. With Brian taking control on the field and in the bedroom, they were an unstoppable team. But Brian, blindsided by love, ran from his feelings for Ty. He won’t let Randi make the same mistake. Both men agree they need more than each other. They want a woman they can share. And when they make a pleasure play for Randi, all three are sure to score. Calling the Play is intended for mature audiences.

Football has never been so hot and sexy!

I fell in love with Samantha Kane’s books when I began reading her Brothers in Arms series. I very quickly realized that she really had a handle on the deep-seated psyche of what bonded her characters. That series dealt with the aftermath of war and the very real bonding of men who serve together and sometimes the love that grows between them and the women necessary to their lives. I wasn’t quite sure how a series about football players was going to compare to a series about soldiers of the Napoleonic Wars. I needn’t have worried because Ms. Kane certainly knows her stuff whether writing historical or contemporary when it comes to the MMF ménage. Her characters are complex and her stories character driven. Calling the Play is no exception.

Tyler Oakes is the newly recruited Quarterback for the Birmingham Rebels. He’s an equal opportunity lover with a history of partying hearty. His partying left him holding the bag for a friend in the wrong place at the wrong time… a choice he’s paid for in his career big time. Now he finally has the opportunity to turn things around and get back into the NFL. What he wasn’t counting on was running into Brian, his intern coach from college… also the one that didn’t just walk, but ran away. A quick stop at a bar that’s name shouts “hookup haven” has Ty meeting a very sexy Sissy and very quickly finding himself in the middle of an undercover drug bust. When “Sissy” decides to commandeer his Porsche for a high-speed chase, Ty decides to go along for the ride. After all, he has every intention of taking the undercover cop, Randi McInish for a ride when they’re done with this business. What he didn’t expect was just how long or rough a ride it would be. Nor did he realize that Randi would be the perfect creme filling in a Ty and Brian sandwich.

Randi McInish is a cop assigned to burglary. When it’s discovered that she was recently hit on by a person of interest she’s temporarily assigned to an undercover op for vice with her brother as her superior. Life is hard enough working as a female detective in a male-centric field, but working for the older brother who raised her seriously adds to the challenge. With four older brothers and a cop for a father, she has learned to put away her girly side. When the grandmother who raised her, then her father passed, her mother left for greener pastures. Her older brothers took over. Family life for Randi was anything but normal. Randi and her youngest brother were illegitimate. Her three oldest brothers were her father’s legitimate sons. That being said her father made sure they all had a relationship with each other. A very abnormal childhood has Randi putting up roadblocks when it comes to relationships. For the first time though she’s ready to consider more than a one or two night stand when it comes to Ty… that is until she see’s the very real undercurrents of love between Ty and Brian. She shares one hot evening of loving between the two of them and then she’s doing the typical Randi and running from any potential relationship that might be there.

When Brian was contacted by the Birmingham Rebels with a coaching opportunity he jumped at the chance. Eight years have been long enough to come to the conclusion he ran from a potential relationship he’s missed every day since. Twenty-twenty hindsight might not be enough, though. With Randi running as fast as she can from any potential relationship they might have things aren’t exactly falling into place with him and Ty. Reality is, Randi is the glue that holds them together. But when the coach realizes just what’s at stake and what it will take to put it all together he does just what he’s good at… he instructs, he trains, he guides… in other words, he manipulates the players into position and goes for the win. A win-win for all of them.

Ms. Kane has a winning series with the Birmingham Rebels. Once again she has picked out a lineup of stellar men that have their issues and the women that are the perfect glue to piece them all together in a cohesive unit. The Rebels are a team of rejects sorely needing a second chance. Ms. Kane gives them the perfect “family” to find their redemption. I would highly recommend this newest release by Ms. Kane to anyone who loves a great sports romance, especially those who love a great erotic MMF ménage romance.
