Dating a werewolf can get a little hairy, literally and metaphorically. Rayne Manchester’s suitors learn this pretty quickly. Rayne and her siblings, Rhyme and River, have been through a lot lately, and the loss of their father only added more fuel to the firestorm that is their lives.

Grief offers a subtle salve to the drama that eats up their existence and leaves them spinning like a tornado, but when their uncle reads their father’s last will and testament they discover things are only going to get worse. The will divides the massive estate equally, but there is one catch; all three must be mated and married one year from their father’s death. Too much and not enough in common?

I read Rayne’s Thunder Part One: The Chef a short time ago. I really liked it, so much so that I got tired of waiting to read the further installments that have come out. So, I took a little break from my commitments to read and review ARCs to read and catch up on this series. Considering my schedule that should tell you something… this series has really sparked an interest in me. For one I may have gotten the first free, but I didn’t get the others that way. For another when I choose the read and review a book I do so because it interests me and because I truly give an honest opinion. This series captures my interest not just because it’s a paranormal series but because of some of the comical situations the heroine ends up in as well as the sniping between her and Storm (shh, I really think he’s the one.)Rayne’s father died recently and at the reading of the will her and her siblings find out that they ALL have one year to mate or they lose the estate and subsequently the pack leadership along with it. If dad’s demands weren’t bad enough, he’s provided a list of suitable candidates for each of them. This series is about Rayne’s subsequent dating of her father’s choices for her. As things unwind, I have to wonder if dad had a clue or if perhaps in presenting so many Mr. Wrongs if he wasn’t in fact steering Rayne towards Mr. Right. Part Two: The Veterinarian is Rayne’s brother River’s attempt at matching her to someone suitable on her father’s list. After all, Rayne is planning to become a doctor so it makes sense that she should have a lot in common with a vet. Right?

I’ve found I really like Rayne. She can be rather feisty, particularly when it comes to dealing with Storm, her brother’s enforcer. She doesn’t like being condescended to or treated like a child. She can be funny and she’s very loving and loyal to her friends and family. Now it is time for her to grow up perhaps a bit. When she meets Lincoln, he’s the typical hot werewolf. The problem? He also appears to be a bit of a purist, something that becomes obvious when Rayne’s best friend, Chloe is kidnapped. It’s obvious that Lincoln is from the school of thought that werewolves and humans don’t exactly mix. He’s also a bit controlling. Whether Rayne is up for someone trying to exert control over her or not is still up for debate. Perhaps if it’s the right someone, but I have to say I don’t think it’s something that is going to come natural for her. Rayne needs reasons to acquiesce.

I liked this installment in the series. Of course, I had no expectation that this one would be the one. After all, there are supposed to be six books in the series. However, that doesn’t mean we should count Lincoln out of the running yet. We’ll have to see how things play out in the rest of the series and that’s what I like about this series. I like watching Rayne learn more about what she likes about the men her father has selected and just what she doesn’t. In the process she is learning a lot about herself as well. On top of that, she’s being presented with some really hot candidates and the spice factor is definitely there, even if the chaperoning isn’t exactly lending itself to sexy times with her suitors. The story line is keeping me interested in seeing where things go in the overall story arch. There is plenty of suspense as well in dealing with the pack adversaries. So yeah, I would definitely recommend this one.
